The Brass class at the University of Music and Theatre in Hamburg, Germany

Since the year 2000, Matthias Höfs holds a professorship at the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre. During this time period he initiated a great cooperation with renowned opera houses in Northern Germany. His students are regularly engaged as musicians at the Hamburg State Opera House, as well as in demanding roles at the opera houses in Bremen, Hannover, Kiel and Lübeck.

Numerous graduates of his classes have moved to elevated positions in German symphonic orchestras, as well as internationally recognized orchestras in Tokyo, Buenos Aires, Qatar and Novosibirsk. In May 2009, a portrait of Matthias Höfs and his work as professor was published in the Neuen Musikzeitung – nmz [PDF].
Professor Höfs’ students are enabled to complete their musical education in additional master classes given by renowned solo performers such as Allen Vizzutti, Gabor Boldoczki, John Hagstrom (Chicago Symphony Orchestra) and Sergej Nakariakov.
